After 18 months of distinct mediocrity at Manchester United, Memphis Depay has a new club.
Having moved to Lyon last month, the Dutch winger’s performance on his full debut saw him demoted to their bench for Wednesday night’s game with Nancy.
Not a great start to life in Ligue 1, but we’re happy to report that in less than 24-hours, Memphis has well and truly turned things around.
On as a half-time sub, the former PSV Eindohoven star won a penalty for his new team and followed this with his first goal a few minutes later. Much better, Memphis. Well done.
While it’s one small step to resurrecting a career which promised so much a couple of years ago, to most people’s way of thinking it’s hardly worthy of a place in a club museum… Lyon, however, disagree.
That very same night, a tweet from OLTV confirmed that the jersey in which Memphis scored his first Lyon goal would be housed in the club’s museum.

If he goes on to score a shitload more for the club, fair dos, but we can’t help but feel that this is jumping the gun a little bit.
Heaven knows what’ll happen if he scores in his next game… a statue? A stand named after him? Hell, why not name the whole stadium in his honour?
