Soccer Guy: Stevie Gee says so long to Mercyside

Soccer Guy

Before making the step up to MLS, Stevie Gee played soccer one last time in Mercyside this weekend.

Real soon, the one-franchise guy will join his second franchise, LA Galaxy, quitting Liver Pool and ending a career in the EPL League that has played out like a Hollywood movie.

But unfortunately for Gee and all Liver Pool’s soccer fans, the ending of this movie was sadder than Marley and Me as the Eagles swooped into town.

It looked pretty good early on for the home guys. Adam Lalaland opened up a can of awesome to stain the score sheets, and it seemed that Gee and his buddies were heading to the victory points.

But that was as good as it got.

Right before heading for the locker rooms, a felony kick was awarded just outside the Liver Pool danger box zone. With a left cleat like a July 4th firework, Ji-Sung Puncheon guided the soccer ball right into the ball bag to make the equalization.

After half time, the second quarter started and the Eagles were flying. Fresh from the subshack, Louis Zaha inserted goalshot number two with his first cleat contact.

The Eagles were like vultures, pecking away at Stevie Gee and his guys like they were the intestines of some road kill that had got squashed up by some humongous truck on the freeway.

As the overtime verdict tablet was erected, the away franchise got themselves a deathstrike. Despite the hand denial from Midge Ole, the Rick O’Shea came right back to the shooter to slide home for threes.

It was pretty harsh on the long-time MVP. Sure, he may have fell on his butt last year, but this was still the guy that, with the help of all of his teammates, single-handedly won Liver Pool a Euro Soccer Cup right by himself.

Despite ending his time in the English EPL in shame, Stevie Gee can now start to look ahead to fulfilling a childhood dream. As the Cop sung a bunch of real nice stuff about how he was such a great guy, it was pretty clear that he could not wait to get out of there.

You Now Walk Away, Soccer Prince of Mercyside.
