Jack Wilshere has been charged by the FA for being ‘ridiculously small-time’ following his expletive-laden chant about Tottenham in Arsenal’s FA Cup victory parade.

While the rest of the Gunners’ squad celebrated their second cup triumph in two years, Wilshere instead diverted his attention to Spurs, a team that has finished below Arsenal in the Premier League in each of the past 20 seasons.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the FA said: ‘Jack Wilshere has been charged with misconduct in relation to Arsenal’s FA Cup celebrations on Sunday 31 May 2015.

‘It is alleged his conduct in being and/or inciting ridiculously small-time behaviour during the club’s open bus trophy tour was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute. Frankly, we’re embarrassed for him.

‘The player has until 6pm on 10 June 2015 to respond to the charge.’

The FA added that Wilshere’s actions were indicative of Arsenal’s inherently weak mentality that makes a mockery of claims the club can challenge for the title next season.
