Benitez is the new Everton manager

Spanish football manager Rafael Benitez has been confirmed as Everton’s new manager despite immense backlash from fans. The former Liverpool manager has signed a three-year deal. This news comes two days after threatening banners were left outside Benitez’s home.

Everton’s official (and very snazzy) announcement video:

Fans have reacted online to the news, and it’s an understatement to say they are not happy:

This fan did not mince their words:

Samantha had a more rational approach to the news:

Someone reach out to Mikey to see if he is okay:

“I am delighted to be joining Everton. I’m determined to play a big part in helping this great club achieve its ambitions,” writes Benitez in a statement released to Everton’s Twitter. The comments underneath are delicious, as expected.

“The only thing he will be delivering is KFC once he is sacked 3 weeks into the season,” writes Joe. While another tweets “not my manager” like this is the 2020 presidential election.

Amongst the replies of blatant racism and ideas of boycotting a club they all claim to support wholeheartedly, some seem to be supporting the announcement.

Sit back and watch the chaos ensue:
