People think Donald Trump’s bodyguard used a fake arm to conceal a gun

Except, he didn't.

Rich Cooper

This isn’t a normal presidency. This isn’t a normal time in politics. Things probably aren’t going to be normal for a while.

But even by current standards of normality, one of the more peculiar stories of Donald Trump’s time in the White House so far has concerned one of this bodyguards.

Pictures emerged of a member of Trump’s security team accompanying the President and First Lady while out celebrating his inauguration in Washington D.C.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the bodyguard’s hand didn’t seem to move at all during the walk, giving rise to the theory that he had a prosthetic arm.

This in turn gave way to a theory that the bodyguard’s real arm was underneath his coat, where he was holding a gun, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice.

On the surface, it’s a convincing theory – the President’s bodyguards are always armed, and Trump is a particularly contentious President.

Unfortunately, this theory was quickly debunked.

If that is indeed a prosthetic arm, it’s doing an excellent job of moving in a very realistic way. What’s more likely is that the bodyguard can just keep his hand still for a very long time. Maybe it’s a Secret Service thing, we don’t know.

It’s a secret, after all.
