It’s ideal casting to be honest.

Some actors are born to play a role and you can certainly say that about Danny DeVito and Wario.

The beloved Always Sunny in Philadelphia star is top pick for playing the iconic video game character in the upcoming Super Mario Bros Movie sequel, and he’s absolutely down for it by the sounds of things.

Speaking to The Movie Dweeb on his YouTube channel, the 79-year-old gave a positive response when asked about the potential casting.

“You never know what happens in the world. I’m up for a lot of things.

“I’m ready to do a lot of things, so, whatever’s coming, I look at, I see, I evaluate.”

When the interview jokingly told DeVito he’ll get in contact with Chris Pratt (star of the first movie) about it, he responded: “You should tell him that I’m going to take them to the cleaners, but I should be in the movie.”

Debuting in cinemas last April, The Super Mario Bros Movie was a box office smash, grossing $375.6 million worldwide at the end of its first weekend.

The film’s huge opening weekend meant that it became the biggest worldwide opening of all time for an animated movie, defeating previous title holder Frozen II.

It also had the biggest opening of all time for a video game adaptation, defeating previous worldwide title holder Warcraft.

The movie eventually ended up making around $1.4 billion globally during its entire run in cinemas.

Wario is expected to show up in some shape of form in the upcoming sequel, which will see Chris Pratt reprise his role as the iconic Italian plumber.

However, another star of the movie, Jack Black (who plays Bowser) had a different actor in mind for Mario’s arch-nemesis.

Speaking to Gamespot, Black said: “You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain?

“Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.”
