Vine: Gibraltar’s first competitive goal, set up by a lawyer and scored by a policeman

Matt Stanger

Gibraltar will be rocking tonight (sorry, not sorry) after scoring their first competitive goal since being ratified as a UEFA member state in 2013.

Lee Casciaro, who has a day job as a policeman, converted the historic strike to temporarily put his team level at 1-1 against Scotland.

The hope of holding out for a draw may have been short-lived, but the significance of Casciaro’s goal will be a moment for Gibraltar to savour for some time.
