Crazy scenes as a Brazilian referee pulls out a gun during a match (Video)

Paul Moore

We imagine that a referee’s preparation for any match that they’re officiating is similar to a footballer’s.

They must make a mental check-list before leaving the house: Kit? Check. Whistle? Check. Cards? Check. Gun? Eh, sorry what now!

Gabriel Murta was the official that channeled his inner ‘Michael Douglas in Falling Down’ after he was kicked and slapped by players from Brazilian lower-league side Amantes de Bola during a recent match.

Murta took refuge in the changing rooms, but when he returned to the pitch he did so with more than just his standard red card.

He is now undergoing a series of psychological tests before the authorities decide on a punishment.

Can you imagine if David Elleray did this when Roy Keane was still playing? There would be more bullets fired than the ending of Django Unchained.
