England fans are all saying the same thing as Brazil’s starting lineup released hours ahead of kickoff

Some major names are missing from the Canary Squad’s starting eleven.

England fans have taken hope from the release of Brazil’s team to face Gareth Southgate’s men in tonight’s friendly match at Wembley Stadium.

Dorival Junior’s starting eleven emerged online this morning, and the absence of Tottenham Hostpurs striker Richarlison, Al Hilal’s Neymar and Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz have caught the attention of England fans on social media.

Many home fans have highlighted the inclusion of Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo as the sole striker as a potential weak spot, and see the Brazilian backline as a possible area to exploit.

One Twitter user reacted to the team news by commenting: “Brazil fell off so bad this is so embarrassing.”

Another wrote: “Joao Gomes over Douglas Luiz?! This Defence is super bad. 4-1 England.”

Fans will be excited to see what team Gareth Southgate puts out for tonight’s clash.

It emerged earlier this week that four England stars are set to miss out on tonight’s friendly.

Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Jordan Henderson and Cole Palmer all missed the Three Lions’ session on Wednesday, and underwent personal training programmes instead.

Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle United fans will be hoping that those absences might pave the way for youngsters Kobbie Mainoo, Jarrad Branthwaite and Anthony Gordon to make their first senior starts, after all three received their first call ups to the squad this week.

Initially named in the England Under-21s squad, Stockport-born Mainoo was fast-tracked into the first team just days after his sensational performance in Manchester United’s dramatic FA Cup win against Liverpool.

The 18-year-old is the youngest player in the first team squad but has been joined by names such as Joe Gomez, who was named in the squad for the first time in four years.

Midfielder Jarrod Bowen has also returned to the squad after his recent fine form for West Ham United.

While some may be surprised at the new blood that has entered the Brazil team for this evening’s match, England fans should still be wary of the likes of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, will start on the left wing, and West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta, who has scored three goals and given five assists for the London side this season.

This evening will see the England stars wear the new and controversial kit for the first time.

The new shirt was revealed earlier this week, and it received backlash over its £125 price and choice of a multicoloured cross on the collar, as opposed to the traditional red and white cross.

Many fans labelled the kit as “woke” and even Labour leader Keir Starmer chimed in, saying: “The flag is used by everybody, it is a unifier, it doesn’t need to be changed.”

Tonight’s game will kick off at 7pm this evening, and will be available to watch live on Channel 4.
