Justice prevails!

Blood is thicker than water and all that.

A woman in New York was suing her 12-year old nephew after she fell and broke her wrist when he leapt into her arms to greet her at his eighth birthday party, four years ago.

According to Westport News, Jennifer Connell, a human resources manager in Manhattan, claimed that her nephew acted unreasonably with an over-enthusiastic greeting that caused her to fall and break the bone.

Testifying in court on Monday, Connell said that she loves her nephew but that he should be held responsible for his actions and, as a result, is suing him for damages worth $127,000.

Connell’s nephew, who she described as “very loving, sensitive,” was present in court alongside his father and was described as appearing ‘confused’. His mother died last year.

The 54-year-old’s lawayer had said: “She is not here enjoying a moment of this.” But Sean “should have known better.”

“We have rules for children,” the lawyer continued. “He was not careful. He was unsafe.”

Apparently the injury has impacted her life and recently at a party she found it difficult to hold a plate of hors d’oeuvres.

We’ve all been there Jennifer, we’ve all been there.

But the jury in the case took just 25 minutes to decide the outcome. And they decided to award the woman the sum total of f**k all.

“We just couldn’t find him, you know, liable for what happened,” a juror said of the boy, according to the New York Daily News.

“He’s a great kid, he’s got nothing to do with this,” added attorney Thomas Noniewicz.

Justice.
