Ant and Dec are taking major flak for this Stephen Hawking joke on ‘I’m a Celebrity’

Some I'm A Celebrity fans aren't happy, at all.

The latest series of the popular reality show is in full swing and everyone's favourite presenting duo, Ant & Dec, are back at the helm of the programme. However, they have come under fire for a joke made on last night's instalment, involving physicist, author and researcher Stephen Hawking. Stephen, whose scientific theories have received critical acclaim, has a rare slow-onset form of motor neurone disease, a condition also referred to as ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). During last night's show, footage was played of Gogglebox's Scarlett Moffatt discussing a time she tried to email Hawking about a time travel theory she had concocted. However, it's what happened next that really got on people's nerves as Ant picked up a phone and pretended to chat to Stephen as an automated voice, similar to the electronic one used by the esteemed professor, played from a nearby speaker.
