Floyd Mayweather’s latest bet shows why he’s earned the nickname ‘Money’

That's a lot of zeroes

BREAKING – Floyd Mayweather is filthy rich.

During his career, the man they called ‘Money’ took home some of the biggest pay days in sporting history, and he remains intent on becoming even more wealthy in his post-boxing days.

The former five-division world champion has been retired for nine months but he’s not exactly struggling to make ends meet.

A keen gambler, Mayweather often places ridiculous amounts of money on sporting events and the latest game to earn Mayweather a tasty pay day came last Sunday.

Trailing 3-2 in the Western Conference finals, the Golden State Warriors were underdogs against Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 6 of the series but Mayweather had faith in Steph Curry’s otherworldly abilities and dropped a cool $170,000 (£116,730) on the Warriors.

And, as you probably know, the Warriors came good and earned Mr Mayweather a monster windfall of $221,000 (£151,500).

It wasn’t exactly a hard bet to make, since the Warriors have been historically good this year, and have already started off the NBA Finals in spectacular fashion, handing down a 104-89 spanking in the opening game of the series.

But Mayweather clearly hasn’t spent a penny of those winnings on a Photoshop tutorial, though, judging by his awful effort at throwing together a fictional fight poster for his never-going-to-happen bout with Conor McGregor.
