Touching footage of medical workers celebrating discharging Sierra Leone’s last Ebola patient (video)

JOE

It’s very easy to lose sight of how lucky we are in this country.

We spend our days complaining about traffic, our jobs and how crap the weather is, but every now then you see something that makes you step back and realise things aren’t so bad. Stories like this one are always good for serving up some much needed perspective.

Since its outbreak last year, the Ebola virus has killed thousands throughout West Africa (and that’s only the official figures). Thankfully, although many are still fighting the disease, it is reported the situation is under control.

These health workers in Sierra Leone celebrated a real milestone recently when 35-year-old Adama Sankoh, the country’s final Ebloa patient, was discharged from a treatment centre.

In this video, we glimpse only a few seconds of just what it means to some of the people that have been on the front line against Ebola over the last fifteen months.
