Another day, another record being smashed by Dwayne Johnson.
So here's how it works in Hollywood folks. Typically, when it comes to earning your dough for a film, there are two ways in which you get paid. The first way is getting the whole works up front. I'm talking cash dollar bills here.
The second way, however, involves being paid a portion up front and taking some more once the film has hit theatres. Normally in the form of a percentage of whatever the film goes onto make, meaning the better the movie does, the more you get paid. Thanks Joe.
And in the former category a new record has reportedly been set!
Before Dwayne Johnson came onto the scene and took home the grand prize, the former record was shared between Robert Downey Jr. in Captain America: Civil War and Will Smith in King Richard, for which both actors received $40 million directly into the bank. But now, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has reportedly been paid even more for his role in the new Christmas comedy, Red One.
The film stars Johnson as Callum Drift alongside a star-packed cast consisting of Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, Nick Kroll, J.K. Simmons, and Bonnie Hunt.
But just how much was The Rock actually paid? Well, according to Screen Rant, The Rock was reportedly paid $50 million up front for his role!
While the plot of the film remains unknown, it is being directed by Jake Kasdan, who directed the last two Jumanji movies, and has been written by Chris Morgan, who wrote seven of the Fast & Furious movies.
With that being said, it seems only fair to say that Red One will be an explosive hit.
Red One is set to arrive on Prime Video before the end of the year and in time for Christmas.
