Zayn Malik leaves One Direction to be a ‘normal’ 22-year-old

In what is the biggest entertainment news of 2015 so far, Zayn Malik has  announced his decision to quit mega-boyband One Direction.

In a statement, Malik said: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.

"I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.

"I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right."

This - of course- has caused an online meltdown of Year 8 girls across the UK and outpourings of heartbreak and support for the 22-year-old Bradford lad have all but eclipsed any mention of Jeremy Clarkson on Twitter.
