‘Everybody, if you can, do the Bartman, shake your body, turn it out if you can, man!’

We all remember ‘Do the Bartman’ don’t we? Swing those hips from side to side. You bought the single 15 years ago? You must have done as it went to number one, which was far more difficult to get in 1990.

Well, the Michael Jackson co-written track that we loved in our youth has been sold to an anonymous buyer for £25k.

The late King of Pop was never credited on the the Simpsons’ song, which went to No 1 in the UK in 1990, because of a dispute between his label Sony and Geffen, who put out the track.

But the recent sale of the novelty record included “both BMI and Sony Publishing royalties”, as well as royalties for a collection of other songs by Bryan Loren, who co-wrote and produced the song.

While Michael’s involvement in the track has never been officially confirmed, Simpsons boss Matt Groening has always claimed it was the product of the Bad singer’s talent.

Matt said in 1998: “It has always been amazing to me that no-one ever found out that Michael Jackson wrote that song.”
