Dave Grohl: “I cried like a baby watching Glastonbury”

Lia Nicholls

The thought of Dave Grohl crying makes me well up a little bit.

The Foo Fighters frontman has admitted he “cried like a baby” while watching Florence + the Machine at Glastonbury.

The band were forced to pull out of their headline slot at the festival after Dave broke his leg falling off stage during their song Monkey Wrench in Gothenburg.

He said: “The day after the gig, someone sent me a link to the performance and I cried like a f***ing baby. It melted my f***ing heart. I am forever indebted to them. It meant so much, you have no idea.”

Florence + the Machine were due to play before the Foo’s but were shifted up the bill following his injury, and left us in no doubt they were up to the coveted gig.

“When we cancelled and they were searching for a replacement I prayed they’d just move them to the top of the bill because they f**king deserve to be there”, said Grohl.

He added to Q Magazine: “I was so excited when they announced they would, I emailed Florence to congratulate her.”

One of music’s heroes…
