Gavi recently signed a new contract with Barcelona

Talented Barcelona youngster Gavi could still be available to sign for a cut-price figure, despite the club finally having the terms of his deal signed off.

Gavi penned a new four-year deal at the club but due to their financial mismanagement off the pitch, Barça have been unable to register him under his new terms.

As part of the new deal, the 18-year-old will now wear the famous number six shirt – once worn by his current manager, Xavi – and had to wear the number 30 as he officially wasn’t part of the first team.

This has also meant that Barcelona haven’t been able to increase his release clause to €1bn – the figure in his new contract.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Barça’s appeal to have the first team contract registered had been approved by a judge at the city’s commercial court.

However, according to Spanish journalist Luis Rojo, the controversy isn’t over, with LaLiga themselves prepared to appeal the decision and if approved, could see his release clause slashed to €50m.

If that is to be the case clubs all around Europe would be on red alert to sign one of football’s brightest young talents. One of those includes Liverpool, with Jürgen Klopp reportedly ‘obsessed’ about signing the Spain international.

Barcelona are unlikely to make any deadline day moves. Although they had been linked with bringing Anthony Elanga on loan to Camp Nou, the Catalan club are set to stick with what they’ve got for their title push.
