‘He’s not here to make friends’

Footage of commentators describing David Katz, the man authorities believe to be responsible for the Jacksonville shooting, at another gaming tournament has emerged.

Playing at another EA Sports Madden event under the moniker of ‘Bread,’ announcers described Katz as “focused” and “a man of business.”

“You are not going to see much emotion from our guy ‘Bread,'” they said. “David Katz is a man of business, he keeps to himself. He’s not here for the experience, he’s not here to make friends. He’s all business.”

“Even getting him to open about anything is like pulling teeth man.”

The event at a Chicago Pizza in Jacksonville Landing was a regional qualifier for a final to be played in Las Vegas, with a prize pot of £129,000.

Katz had played in another Madden tournament in February.

Officials say Katz shot two people dead in Jacksonville before turning a hand gun on himself. Nine other people were injured with gunshot wounds and two others as they fled, all are in a stable condition.

Footage of the event shows the red dot of a laser sight appear on the torso of one of the gamers before around a dozen gunshots are heard. Police say Katz used a hand gun in the attack and the FBI have raided the man’s family home in Baltimore, Maryland, in an effort to finally confirm his identity.

Unconfirmed local reports say that Katz became angry after being knocked out of the tournament, which was a regional qualifier for the latest Madden game – Madden NFL 19, but authorities say the killer’s motive is still unclear.

US media have named the two victims of the shooting as rival players to Katz – 21-year-old Eli Clayton and 27-year-old Taylor Robertson.
