With supervillain sequel Joker: Folie à Deux set for a cinema release this October, the Clown Prince of Crime will no doubt be back as a major topic discussion.

And ahead of the criminal clown’s return this year, the folks over at TeaserPlay have done a mock-up trailer for an open world game inspired by the 2019 Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix.

Made with Unreal Engine 5, an engine widely used for developing video games, the teaser takes moments from the Oscar-winning film and makes them look like they are part of an open world game akin to the Grand Theft Auto.

These include the movie’s famous stairs dance scene, the subway shooting sequence and its climactic riot.

“Let’s explore together the infinite potentials of a AAA game inspired by Joker movie,” the description for the video reads.

“We’ve created this video purely for fun, using Unreal Engine 5, and it definitely won’t be released.”

Many took to the comment section of the YouTube trailer to praise the teaser and express their interest in playing the game.

One person wrote: “I don’t care if this is just a video, I want to get it released.”

Another said: “I need that kind of movie game to come back!”

A third commented: “Ok every gaming studio or gaming company needs to hire TeaserPlay because the graphics in this teaser are intense.”

Many were also quick to compare the trailer to GTA, with one person writing: “Grand Theft Auto: Society Edition.”

Another added: “Great stuff! Gives a GTA with a dark edge kinda feel.”
