Andrew tate banned from TikTok

TikTok has become the latest social media platform to ban him

Andrew Tate has been banned from TikTok for violating the platform’s policies on misogyny and hateful behaviour.

The 35-year-old has gained notoriety in recent months because of his inflammatory and controversial views on women, which many have labelled as misogynistic.

This includes videos where he has said that “women can’t drive,” that women are men’s “property” and that “18-year-old women are “more attractive than 25-year-olds because they’ve been through less d***.”

He has even gone as far to say that rape victims should “bear responsibility” for their attacks.

On Friday, Meta announced that they had banned him from Facebook and Twitter.

Now, TikTok has said it has banned an account that they believe belonged to Tate.

They will be using technology to crack down on duplicated clips of Tate and will be reviewing new content in an attempt to stop more videos of him from being posted.

Copycats and fan pages were the main way Tate’s content spread on the app, with people sharing clips and videos. A recent investigation by the Observer found that videos of him have been watched 11.6 billion times.

In a statement to the Washington Post, TikTok said Andrew Tate’s account was removed for breaking rules on “content that attacks, threatens, incites violence against, or otherwise dehumanizes an individual or a group.”

TikTok had previously said it was investigating videos of Tate’s content on the platform.

They said in a statement last week: “Misogyny and other hateful ideologies and behaviours are not tolerated on TikTok, and we are working to review this content and take action against violations of our guidelines.

“We continually look to strengthen our policies and enforcement strategies, including adding more safeguards to our recommendation system, as part of our work to keep TikTok a safe and inclusive space for our community.”

In response to his ban from Facebook and Instagram, Tate claimed his words have been “taken out of context.”

He said: “It is very unfortunate that old videos of me, where I was playing a comedic character, have been taken out of context and amplified to the point where people believe absolutely false narratives about me.

“In the last two weeks, I dedicated over 1 million dollars to charities supporting women.”

He said that those branding him “anti-women” are “simply hate mobs” who are trying to attack him personally and ultimately thinks that a platform should let him back to educate the “youth of today” about respect.

“It would be good for the future of humanity,” he added.

Concluding, he said: “I have nothing but positivity to spread regarding all people, whether male or female, and this has been reflected in all of my recent messaging and posts.”
