Ed Sheeran: Rapping like Eminem helped my childhood stutter

Speaking out loud...

Nooruddean Choudry

Ed Sheeran has opened up about his childhood stutter and how Eminem helped cure it…

The popular redhead was speaking in New York at the ‘Freeing Voices Changing Lives’ benefit gala organised by the American Institute for Stuttering.

During his speech, Sheeran explained how repeating the lyrics to Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP album helped him in dealing with his speech impediment.

“I learnt every word of it back to front by the age of ten,” said the crooner. “He raps very fast and melodically and percussively, and it helped me get rid of my stutter.”

Sheeran also had some words of advice for any youngsters out there who feel different in some way:

“Be yourself. Embrace your quirks…kids worry a lot about fitting in, but as soon as you stop trying to fit in is when stuff fits around you.”

Well said that man.
