Thierry Henry likely to join Arsenal’s coaching staff this summer

There's been few summers more important than this one for Arsenal. As we have learned before, with Moyes' arrival at Old Trafford the most obvious answer, the transition between a 20+ year reign and a new chapter is unlikely to be plain sailing. It looks as though Mikel Arteta will be appointed as Arsène Wenger's successor in the near future, with the former Arsenal midfielder set to leave Manchester City after two years of working as Pep Guardiola's assistant. And another Thierry Henry is reportedly set to hold talks with the club over a 'key role' that is yet to be revealed, report the Irish Independent.  Henry has not extended his contract with the Belgium national team, where he has been working as Roberto Martínez's assistant, adding weight to the notion that he's likely to return to the Emirates again. Hiring club legends as coaches is not always a recipe for success, as demonstrated by Alan Shearer and Gareth Southgate, who took Newcastle and Middlesbrough down respectively. But Arteta and Henry would certainly command the respect of the dressing room, and have both had a top level coaching education. This sort of youthful coaching duo would be a stark contrast to what Arsenal have become accustomed to in recent years, but it could be exactly the sort of change the club needs to kickstart their resurgence.
