Erling Haaland gives Man City major hint on perfect shirt number

Haaland joins Man City on July 1

Erling Haaland is getting ready to join Manchester City this summer after months of speculation ended with Pep Guardiola’s side landing their number one target.

Although he doesn’t officially join until July 1, Haaland has been keen to express his excitement for the move, with City as fans eagerly anticipating the chance to see him in the shirt for the first time.

Haaland wore the number nine shirt during his time at Borussia Dortmund. However, that jersey is currently worn by Gabriel Jesus while Jack Grealish and Oleksandr Zinchenko wear the two other common strikers’ numbers of 10 and 11.

And the Norwegian has seemingly dropped a hint as to what number he could be wearing at the Etihad Stadium next season in a series of baby pictures posted on Twitter.

The 21-year-old captioned the post “to be continued…” with a picture of him wearing a shirt which reads ‘Dad 15’ – the number his father Alf-Inge wore during his time at City.

Nobody currently occupies the number 15 shirt, which has been vacant since Eliaquim Mangala left in 2019. Huge footsteps to follow.

Whether he wears the number 15, replaces Jesus as the number nine or is given a ridiculous number like 99, Haaland is no doubt bound to score goals.

Haaland joins the Premier League champions off the back of yet another impressive campaign in the Bundesliga, having scored 29 goals in 30 games across all competitions.

The forward also continued his excellent run by scoring both goals against Sweden in a 2-1 win last weekend to take his international tally to 18 in total.

During the game the 21-year-old was involved in a heated exchange with Sweden defender Alexander Milosevic who was alleged to have called Haaland a ‘wh***’ – something Milosevic denies.
