Research finds chocolate consumption can improve brain function

Chocolate tastes so good that we’re programmed to think eating it is detrimental to our health.

However, a new study published in reserch journal Appetite says eating chocolate can lead to improved brain activity.

Brought to our attention by Medical Dailythe research established a link between ‘ longer-term chocolate eating and brain function’.

For the research, participants were asked how often they consumed various foods, ranging from meat, rice and pasta, fruit, vegetables, chocolate and other snacks, in addition to beverages such as water, coffee, and alcohol.

The next step was to ask the participants to complete a series of tests focused on ‘visual-spatial memory and organization, scanning and tracking, verbal episodic memory, and working memory’.

After comparing diet with the results of the tests, the study established that eating chocolate was associated with a positive cognitive performance.
