Mourinho furious over FA punishment: ‘I’m glad I don’t have an electronic tag!’

Unhappy man...

Jose Mourinho is not a happy man. He thinks he is being victimised and that everyone treats Arsene Wenger differently.

The Chelsea manager was handed a suspended one-game stadium ban and a £50,000 fine by the FA on Wednesday, due to remarks he made about the officials during Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat at home to Southampton.

One would assume that this would be good cause for Mourinho to pipe down a little and keep his head down – but Jose being Jose that was never going to happen.

Speaking at the launch of his new book MOURINHO at Waterstones Piccadilly in London, he expressed fury at his punishment and wondered when he would electronically tagged for his sins.

“£50,000 is a disgrace. The possibility of getting a stadium ban is astonishing…I am happy that I don’t have an electronic tag.” complained Mourinho.

He also had a not very veiled dig at Arsene Wenger as he suggested he was a victim of double standards in comparison to the Arsenal man.

Wenger called Mike Dean “weak” after Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea, whereas Mourinho used the term “afraid” in reference to the Southampton game.

Afraid costs £50,000. Weak and naive – you can do it…and you can push people in the technical area.”

Steady Jose, you’ll give yourself a hernia…
