John Legend celebrates winning Grammy award by ‘mincing garlic’

What a legend

The Grammy Awards looked a little different to usual last night as they took place remotely at a Los Angeles convention centre due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Singer-songwriter John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, got dressed up for the virtual event.

Teigen wore a black tassel dress, while Legend donned a black and gold Versace dressing gown with silk pyjama bottoms, so you regular Sunday spent dressed down.

Legend was the winner of the Best R&B album, and accepted his award in the most unusual way possible.

In a video posted on her Twitter, Teigen films her husband’s reaction to the results.

She asks her husband: “John, you’ve just won R&B album of the year, how are you going to celebrate?”

His response? “I’m mincing garlic!”

Legend then broke into a dance whilst continuing to prep the garlic for a delicious pasta dish.

Legend received the award for his seventh studio album ‘Bigger Love’, beating fellow nominees Luke James, Gregory Porter, Ant Clemons and Giveon.

Speaking on Twitter, Legend thanked his wife for her support, and for the “outstanding” dinner he was prepping minced garlic for.

He said: “Thank you for inspiring me every single day. And thanks for the outstanding cacio e pepe I was mincing garlic for!”

Legend later expressed his gratitude again on social media, saying: “I’m so grateful for this! Thank you to all of my fellow artists in the @RecordingAcad! Thank you to all of my collaborators, especially my big brother and exec producer @RaphaelSaadiq! Thank you to everyone who listened! Love you all!”
