Love Island FC have secured their latest signing
Halifax Town will be one player short, at least for the next few weeks, after they confirmed one of their players has agreed to join the latest series of Love Island.
Jamie Allen only signed a new contract with the Vanarama National League side 11 days ago, but a statement from the club has since confirmed that Allen would be appearing on the popular ITV2 show after stressing the importance of going on it.
“Jamie Allen has decided to join the cast of Love Island 2022, making his intentions clear that the opportunity is very important to him,” a club statement posted to Twitter read.
“The matter will be reviewed on his return.”

Allen is one of several footballers to have featured on the show
Allen, 27, has been at the club since 2019, where he joined from Dover Athletic. The midfielder made 24 appearances last season and is also an international for Montserrat.
The Halifax man isn’t the first footballer to feature on the programme. Dennon Lewis, who appeared in season five, started his career with Watford before joining Boreham Wood in 2021.
Aaron Simpson, currently of Sutton United, was part of the seventh series of the programme – just months after helping Sutton secure promotion to the Football League.
Allen follows in the footsteps of former contestant, Jacques O’Neill
Allen will also be the second sports professional to appear in this year’s instalment, following in the footsteps of Castleford Tigers rugby league player Jacques O’Neill, who quit the show last week.
O’Neill has been offered support by Castleford after he opened up on the decision to leave the show, citing his mental health as the main reason in an emotional statement on Instagram.
