We all have our favourite groups and people.
Given that most people are active in about 74 different WhatsApp groups, it's very likely that you prioritise one friend/group over another.
Well, if this is the case then you'll be pleased to know that the app is introducing pinned chats that will allow you to pin up to three contacts and groups to the top of your WhatsApp conversation list.
In doing so, this will also make it easier to ignore the notifications from those groups/people that you're not particularly engaged with.
Hell, the mute button can only do so much work but it can't prevent inane conversations from appearing at the top of your screen hence the introduction of pinned chats.
WhatsApp announced the development via a statement which said: "With pinned chats, you never have to worry about scrolling through the long list of conversations to text your family members or your best friend. Users can now pin up to three of the most important group or individual chats to the top of their chat list for easy access – simply tap and hold a chat, and then tap the pin icon at the top of your screen."
If you want to avail of this function, just tap hold on the chat. After doing so, a pin icon will appear on screen with an option to delete, mute or archive appearing.
Pick the pin option, and the chat will move to the very top of your conversation list.
In order to unpin, long press on the chat, and you’ll see the unpin option on top this time. Choose this and the chat will move down the chain of threads.
As things currently are, the app is currently being rolled out to Android users and this update should be available to download within the next few days.
iOS users will have to wait a bit longer until they're able to avail of pinned chats on the app.
