Keane blasted the United players for their first half performance
Roy Keane has blasted the Manchester United players for their poor first half display against Manchester City at Old Trafford, saying he’s ‘given up’ on them.
United find themselves 2-0 down to their city rivals after an Eric Bailly own goal seven minutes in and Bernardo Silva goal just before the break has Pep Guardiola’s side cruising.
It’s been yet another shocking display defensively from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side who look lethargic when it comes to closing down the Man City players, who have acres of space to conjure up their magic.
And Sky Sports pundit Keane did not hold back in his criticism of United’s first 45.
“These are international football players,” the former United captain fumed.
“I can’t understand the defending. I give up.
“I’m driving down here today wondering, ‘well Man United might have their chance, they’re at home’, they’ve been like this all season!”

Keane then said he can’t see the home side coming back into the game barring a miracle second half performance.
He said: “City got a little bit arrogant, they gave them one or two chances, but it’s two at the moment.
“Unless United do something drastic, it’ll be another four or five.”
Meanwhile fellow pundit Graeme Souness was quick to praise Man City for the way they have played so far.
He said: “City have been sensational, they really have.
“The way they’ve kept the ball, and how hard they work to win the ball back.
“It’s easy to sit here and admire the technicality and things when they have the ball, but the amount of graft their putting in to when they lose the ball.
“They get it back immediately, they are a fantastic watch today.”
