Kat Von D gets baptised after renouncing witchcraft and the occult

The famous tattoo artist has started a new chapter

Kat Von D has been baptised, more than a year after she renounced witchcraft and the occult.

Von D, real name Katherine von Drachenberg, shared a video of the ceremony on her Instagram page on Wednesday which has since gone viral.

The star, who became even more famous during her stint on the reality TV show, ‘LA Ink’, captioned the video with a single cross sign. The clip, which has amassed over 260,000 likes, shows a crowd of people present for the baptism, while angelic music plays. The camera then settles in on her.

“Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in obedience to his divine command, I baptise you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” the pastor says before dunking her in the baptismal pool.

Von D then hugs the pastor while the crowd applaud.

In July 2022, Von D, who as well as being one of the most famous tattoo artists in the world also founded the KVD Beauty Makeup Collection, shared a photo of tarot cards and several books on witchcraft, revealing she was giving up her interest in “macabre” subject matters.

“I don’t know if any of you have been going through changes in your lives right now, but in the last few years I’ve come to some pretty meaningful realisations — many of them revolving around the fact that I got a lot of things wrong in my past,” she wrote.

“Today, I went through my entire library, and threw out books that just don’t align with who I am and who I want to be.”

Von D, 41, continued: “I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves.” V

Von D stressed she was not trying to degrade anyone interested in topics like witchcraft, but was following her own path.

“But right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light,” she wrote.

Von D, who was born in Montemorelos, Mexico, previously shared how she was getting her tattoos covered with solid black ink, staring the fresh layer in 2020.

I’m so happy with how this blackout tattoo by @hoode215blackout is coming together! 🖤 Before anyone starts criticizing, I encourage you to remember that it’s okay not to like or even understand things. Those differences make the world so much more interesting! So no need to comment any negativity. Just know that I absolutely LOVE it, and it’s so refreshing for me to see all the garbage drunken tattoos I got before I became sober, be covered by sleekness and simplicity🖤 #blackouttattoo #katvond

Before her inkings were erased, Von D had a tattoo of her mum Sylvia Galeano, the phrase ‘Mi Vida Loca’ and a cartoon of Broadway actor and samba singer Carmen Miranda.

She shared that she got the blackout design to conceal older tattoos that no longer meant anything to her and said the designs were ones she got when she used to drink. The LA Ink star had been sober for 13 years at that point.

In 2021, Von D announced she was closing her “beloved” High Voltage Tattoo shop, which was featured in the TLC reality show LA Ink. She opened the parlour after leaving Miami Ink in 2007 due to a dispute with other cast members — and starred in the L.A. spinoff for four seasons.

Von D and her husband, Leafar Seyer, welcomed son Leafar Von D Reyes in 2018
