‘They’re not going to like what some people do with that thing’
Long-distance relationships have just got a little more intimate, thanks to a technology company in China.
For couple’s that need more than Facetime and Zoom calls to stay connected, there’s now the Remote Kiss.
The aptly named device is a phone attachment with warm and moveable silicon lips on it, so you can send more than an air-kiss to your beau or bae.
The device is being marketed and sold to long-distance lovers through China’s online shopping website Taobao.

According to the Global Times, China’s state-run newspaper, the invention has been patented by the Changzhou Vocational Institute of Mechatronic Technology.
Jiang Zhongli, the leading inventor of the device, said he was inspired to come up with the device because he too is in a long-distance relationship.
“In my university, I was in a long-distance relationship with my girlfriend so we only had contact with each other through the phone. That’s where the inspiration of this device originated,” Zhongli explained.
Jiang applied for a patent in 2019 and it ended in January 2023.
The device also mirrors the noises made when kissing. Bad news for anyone with misophonia. Sufferers are affected emotionally by common sounds — usually those made by others, and usually ones that other people don’t pay attention to.
The Remote Kiss works through an app which users need to download on their phone. The device is connected through the charging port.
To start a kissing call, couple’s need to couple-up in the app and connect via a video call. Once aligned, they send replicas of their smooches through cyberspace onto their lover’s lips. It also allows people with oral diseases to kiss.
Reactions to the device have been mixed to say the least.

Jiang said he was surprised his invention got popular and hoped someone who is interested in this device can expand and perfect the design.
