Dad reveals all about the moment his penis fell off – and how he replaced it with a bigger one

Malcolm McDonald asked for the new penis to be a full two inches longer

A mechanic has told the harrowing story of how he lost his penis and threw it in the bin after it fell off – then later had a new one made using a skin flap on his arm.

The dad even had it made a full two inches longer.

Malcolm MacDonald said he feels like a “real man again” after having an artificial member surgically attached to his nether region – six years after it was first designed by doctors – earlier this year. The 47-year-old told his story in a new documentary, The Man With a Penis on His Arm, which aired on Channel 4 on Wednesday night.

MacDonald, from Norfolk, lost his penis in 2014 due to a severe blood infection in his perineum – it “just dropped off onto the floor”. He had become homeless and did “more and more drugs” when his relationship fell apart after welcoming a child.

“My toes started going black, my penis started going black. I went to the toilet and it fell off. Because I had been through the devastation of knowing I was going to lose it, I just picked it up and put it in the bin,” McDonald said.

While MacDonald’s testicles remained intact, he was left with a “stump” for a penis and medics later rolled up the remainder of it “like a sausage roll”.

Surgeons later manufactured a new penis for the father of two using a skin flap on his left arm and planned to move it to his pubic area but were forced to stop the operation due to a lack of oxygen in his blood.

MacDonald was then left with the artificial phallus poking out of his forearm. A second surgery to move it between his legs was delayed for six years due to scheduling mix-ups, staff shortages, and covid.

In the documentary, MacDonald recalls helping an elderly lady retrieve an item from the top shelf at a supermarket, only to have the penis pop out from beneath his sleeve and nearly hit her on the head. “It’s something to tell the grandchildren, isn’t it?” he remarks in the documentary.

McDonald’s situation changed when his GP told him of “penis master” Professor David Ralph, an expert in phallus construction at London’s University College Hospital.

Ralph created a penis using flesh from Malcolm’s arm. It was initially hoped he could have the member attached between his legs, but a lack of oxygen in his blood meant it had to be grafted to his arm.

McDonald told the programme how the operation turned his life around: “It was a nine-hour op. The first thing I did was look down and I was like, ‘Oh my days. They got it this time’.

“I feel like a real man again.”

And his penis was much bigger than his old one, cause McDonald helped design it.

“They were happy to listen to what I wanted it to be like, which was amazing. Not many can say they have a designer penis,” he previously said.
