Britain's Got Talent winner Viggo Venn has admitted it was "so embarrassing" to win the ITV talent show.
The Norwegian comedian, famous for wearing hi-vis vests during his performances, was booed by some of the audience after he was crowned the winner of the series on Sunday night.
Viggo had been due to give an interview to Lorraine on Tuesday, but had to pull out due to illness.
But he did appear on the show this morning (June 7), admitting that he was "kinda hoping I didn't win."
Lorraine told the comedian: "We need fun, and you are very silly!"
Viggo responded: "I was kinda hoping I didn't win because it would be so embarrassing but I was very happy when they said it the British public have such sense of ridiculous humour."
He then jumped up and tried to eat a fake apple before hugging a picture of Mr Bean.
Viggo beat favourites Musa Motha – an inspirational dancer who had a leg amputated at the age of 11 – and Malaka Bayoh – a young opera singer who brought the judges to tears with his audition earlier in the series – to the BGT crown on Sunday night.
When Ant and Dec announced he had won the public vote, what sounded like boos could be heard from some of the audience.
Some viewers at home picked up on this, with one writing: “Very surprised. But Viggo was very funny. Very distasteful for anyone to boo Viggo. Not his fault he won, people voted for him, not anyone else. Made it a sour end thanks to the audience reaction. Well done, Viggo!!! #BritainsGotTalent #BGT2023 #bgt.”
Another said: “Sounded like a lot of boos there when #ViggoVenn was announced as the winner of #BritainsGotTalent. I thought he was great but a shock omissions from the final 3, and I think everyone thought the young lad would win. Bit of a deflated, down-beat end to the series #BGT2023 #BGT.”
Others were fuming with Viggo's victory, such as this viewer who tweeted: “Did you hear them boo’s on @BGT? Quite right too, ridiculous. So much more talent in that final tonight. #BGT2023 should not have made the live shows. Poor winner.”
Another unhappy viewer went as far to say they were “NEVER EVER EVER EVER watching @BGT #BritainsGotTalent again.” They labelled the show an “absolute shambles”, adding: “a guy running about in a high vis vest over so much proper genuine real talent? the boos in that audience, shocked faces and genuine tears said it all for me.”
