The winner of Britain’s Got Talent, Viggo Venn, has pulled out of a TV interview after he appeared to be booed during the final.

The Norwegian comedian was a shock winner on Sunday night picking up the £250,000 prize and a slot at the Royal Variety Performance.

But it sounded like some in the audience weren’t too happy with his victory, with boos heard from some.

Viggo was due to give his first TV interview since the chaotic final on Tuesday’s edition of the Lorraine Kelly Show, but ended up cancelling at the last minute.

On Monday afternoon, the show’s official account tweeted: “SO excited to say @ViggoVenn is joining @reallorraine live for his first TV interview tomorrow morning.”

But when Tuesday rolled round, Lorraine revealed Viggo was not able to appear on the show because he wasn’t “feeling well.”

“Viggo was supposed to be joining me in the studio this morning but unfortunately he’s not feeling too chipper but hopefully we’ll see him later on,” Lorraine said.

She added that he “needs a wee rest” as he showcased a lot of “energy” during the final.

Viggo beat favourites Musa Motha – an inspirational dancer who had a leg amputated at the age of 11 – and Malaka Bayoh – a young opera singer who brought the judges to tears with his audition earlier in the series – to the BGT crown on Sunday night.

Some viewers at home picked up on the boos, with one writing: “Very surprised. But Viggo was very funny. Very distasteful for anyone to boo Viggo. Not his fault he won, people voted for him, not anyone else. Made it a sour end thanks to the audience reaction. Well done, Viggo!!! #BritainsGotTalent #BGT2023 #bgt.”

Another said: “Sounded like a lot of boos there when #ViggoVenn was announced as the winner of #BritainsGotTalent. I thought he was great but a shock omissions from the final 3, and I think everyone thought the young lad would win. Bit of a deflated, down-beat end to the series #BGT2023 #BGT.”
