A statement has been issued on behalf of showrunners.

Now beyond its second week of episodes, discourse surrounding hit BBC show The Celebrity Traitors has been dominated by rumours of behind-the-scenes tension between co-stars.

Over the weekend, The Mail on Sunday reported, citing sources, that James Acaster had complained to producers about fellow comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan.

According to the report, Acaster is said to have told producers how he felt “teased and mocked” by the pair, who were “going too far” with some of their jokes.

In response, as detailed in a report by The Independent, the BBC team responsible for the Celebrity Traitors has issued a statement, in which they deny the Mail's claims as "categorically untrue."

The statement begins: "Claims of teasing amongst the cast on the show and claims of complaints about teasing are categorically untrue."

“There were no incidents of this nature and there is no evidence to support these allegations.”

Representatives for both Beckett and Ranganathan are also reported by The Independent to have responded, saying: "These claims are completely untrue and couldn’t be further from the truth”.

The Celebrity Traitors continues this Thursday 22nd October on BBC One at 8pm.
