Angelina Jolie has hinted that she may step away from acting and move to her home in Cambodia.

Since shooting to fame for her role in ‘Girl, Interrupted’, Jolie has gone on to become one of the biggest names in film.

Due to her fame, much of the actor’s life has been spent in the spotlight, with her relationship with fellow actor Brad Pitt receiving worldwide interest.

‘Brangelina’ started dating in 2005 and married nearly a decade later. After just two years, the pair split up though and have been embroiled in lengthy divorce proceedings ever since.

There have also been reports of an alleged physical altercation between the couple on a flight in 2016.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the ‘Maleficent star’ said she probably wouldn’t be an actor now if she were to choose due to the intrusions into her private life.

She said: “I wouldn’t be an actress today.

“When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much.”

Jolie claimed she hasn’t had much freedom to travel following her divorce from Pitt, but that she now hopes to leave Hollywood and Los Angeles.

She continued: “It’s part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can.”

The actor explained that she would like to spend more time at her home in Cambodia, adding that Hollywood is “not a healthy place” and is “shallow.”

Jolie hasn’t appeared in many films in recent years, which she has previously said was due to the fact that she “feels a bit down these days.”

She told Vogue in September that she has not been herself “for a decade.”

Although she didn’t elaborate on this, Jolie did say that becoming a mother had “saved her.”

She adopted her first son, Maddox, from Cambodia when she was 26, and shares Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15, with Pitt.

“My entire life changed,” Jolie said. “Having children saved me – and taught me to be in this world differently.”

Next year, Jolie will reprise her role as Tigress in the Kung Fu Panda movies for the fourth installment of the franchise. She is also set to star as opera singer Maria Callas in upcoming biopic, ‘Maria’.
