Gogglebox fans furious after show makes major change

Some said the change ‘totally threw them off’

Gogglebox viewers were left angry and confused by a significant change made to the show for the first time in its history.

On Friday night’s episode of the much-loved Channel 4 show, fans were blindsided by a change made to the opening titles.

First broadcast in 2013, Gogglebox has ran for 23 series. And since the very first episode, its theme tune has been Perfect World by Kodaline.

This changed last night though, when a slowed-down, piano version of the song played over the show’s opening and closing titles.

It seems the change didn’t go down well with some viewers at home though, who questioned why the familiar theme tune wasn’t playing.

Writing on social media, one person commented: “Tf is this new theme tune?”

Another asked: “What’s with the music?”

“Why have they changed Gogglebox theme tune, totally threw me off” another viewer said.

“Sorry what is this new song,” someone else exclaimed, with a fourth saying: “Have they changed the theme tune or am I going crazy?”

Those unsettled by the alteration though needn’t worry too much as the change was only a one-off.

The change was made to celebrate the second series of The Piano, which will air on Channel 4 from April 28.

The talent show sees Claudia Winkleman invite amateur pianists to perform at some of the busiest and most well-known train stations in the UK.

Unbeknownst to those performing, they are being judged by renowned pianist Lang Lang as well as pop star Mika.

The best pianists are then chosen to perform to a concert audience in the show’s grand finale.
