They have “signed agreements”.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have released a joint statement on their divorce. Although they split in September of last year the pair have waited until now to release the statement.

In the months that followed their divorce announcement, they attracted a lot of attention and have been subject to intense media scrutiny. Particularly because the FBI and family protection units were involved when it was alleged that Pitt had been involved in an incident on a plane in front of his children.

He was later cleared of all accusations and the FBI declared that they had dropped their investigation.

The couple has now released a statement to confirm that they will be settling their divorce in private and that all documents would be sealed to protect their children.

According to CNN, the statement read:

“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues.

“The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”
