7 new mobile games you should be playing right now

It’s time to freshen up what you play while sat on the toilet. Here’s a selection of great mobile games new to Android & iOS.

Lara Croft GO (Android & iOS – £3.99)

Accompanying Lara’s stunning return in ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’, comes Lara Croft GO, a head scratching puzzle adventure game where you taken Ms Croft through a series of increasingly difficult challenges.

Tennis Champs Returns (iOS – Free,  In-App Purchases)

A retro revival of a classic Amiga game, Tennis Champs returns is a deceptively deep tennis game to while away your commute to work with. Boasting a robust career mode, doubles matches and daily challenges, it should sate your mobile gaming thirst for more than a few months.

Swing (Android – Free)

A fun spin on the ‘endless runner’ genre, like the name suggests, Swing will have you swing from ledge to ledge while dodging obstacles on the way. Great for the ‘just one more game before bed’ crowd.

Downwell (Android – £2.36 / iOS – £2.29)

The sleeper hit mobile game of last year, Downwell had you venturing down a well in search of treasure with little more than a pair of gun boots for protection. It looks like something you could have knocked up in an IT class, but plays like an absolute dream. One to ruin your phone battery with.

Power Hover (Android & iOS – £2.29)

Another endless runner, Power Hover stands out thanks to its sublime visuals. Set in what might be a post-apocalyptic planet, as you stay on track avoiding obstacles and gaining power-ups, the game’s experience begins to be take on a calming aura. At least until you crash and f**k everything up again.

Stack (iOS – Free, in-app purchases)

Stack is a simple enough puzzle game, it just wants to you stack the blocks you’re given as high as you can to make a tower.  The addictiveness comes from the beautiful art design and a well pitched difficulty level. This one is less than a month old, so jump on it now for extra cool points in the pub. Race you to 100.

Punch Club (iOS – £3.99)

Punch Club is a game for anyone who fell in love with Streets of Rage back in the days of the SEGA Megadrive. A deep side-scrolling beat ‘em up, it’ll have you engaged for wells with its deep story and clever RPG style perk system. Just try not to miss your next train stop when playing.
