Ex-Celtic captain Scott Brown waves off Rangers' Ryan Kent after red card

Scott Brown couldn't resist

Aberdeen's Scott Brown was in fine form on Tuesday night as he waved off Ryan Kent after he was sent off during his side's draw against Rangers.

The former Celtic legend played his part in helping to rile up the atmosphere at Pittodrie as they came from behind to equalise. Ianis Hagi's first-half opener looked set to extend Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side's lead at the top of the Cinch Premiership, however Lewis Ferguson's spot-kick ensured a share of the points.

With very little of the game left to play Kent, who was already on a booking, went in for a challenge on Brown with replays showing that there was minimal contact.

However referee Kevin Clancy deemed the challenge to be worth of a second yellow offence and gave Kent his marching orders.

Not satisfied with seeing him dismissed, Brown took the shithousery up a notch as he began to gesture and wave the former Liverpool winger off the pitch.

Kent appeared to say something back to him, but all the former Celtic skipper could do was laugh in his face, continuing to clap and wave him off the pitch.

The pair have had history between them in the past during Old Firm games, with the two regularly embroiled in 50/50 challenges.

Brown's former boss at Celtic, Neil Lennon, admitted he wasn't surprised to see Brown trying to wind up the Rangers winger.

"Not really (surprised)," he told Sky Sports.

"He'll be enjoying this and smelling a bit of blood.

"You can see why Celtic fans love him. There's obviously a bit of history there, not just with Ryan Kent, but with a lot of players.

"Scotty is very good at the noise up.

"He'll be loving it, he'll be revelling in it. He has done for the last 10 or 15 years."

The draw for Rangers means that they now sit just four points clear of closest rivals Celtic, with the next meeting between the two scheduled to take place on 2 February.
