Barcelona are laying down the law

Barcelona have introduced three new rules which their players must adhere to on top of the 10 they created last year.

Shortly after taking charge in November, Barça boss Xavi introduced a set of rules for the squad to follow in an attempt to turn around the club’s poor form.

Those were:

1. Players must arrive 90 minutes before training start

2. Staff must arrive two hours before training starts

3. Players must eat at the club’s training ground

4. Fines have returned

5. Fines will be doubled for repeat offences/offenders

6. Players must be home before midnight two days before a game

7. Players must give their all in training

8. Player’s off-field activity will be monitored

9. ‘Risky’ activities are no longer permitted

10. A good image is essential

The Catalan giants were 10th in LaLiga at the time and had just four wins from 12 games, however the rules evidently worked, with Barça finishing second last season.

With new signings through the door the club have continued their impressive form by winning three of their opening four games of the 2022/2023 campaign.

But keen to not let standards slip, Xavi has now added three new ones to make sure that his players keep in check.

Cadena SER have reported that the first new rule implanted will see members of the squad prohibited from using social media apps such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook when involved in team activities.

Additionally, players have now been banned from posting any images or opinions that could portray the club, their teammates or fellow staff members in a bad light.

Players will also be deducted 10 per cent of their wages should they refuse to participate in any club-related or promotional activity.
