Olivia Pratt-Korbel: Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting of nine-year-old girl

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the recent murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel in Liverpool. The suspect is believed to have been the target of the shooting and is currently being detained in hospital on a prison recall following a breach of the terms of his license. He's currently in stable condition and will be moved back into prison to serve the remainder of his license before being questioned by authorities about his involvement in the murder of 9-year-old Olivia. Olivia was killed when a masked gunman chased an assailant into terraced house on Kingsheath Avenue in the area of Dovecot, Liverpool, on the evening of Monday August 22. Olivia's mother, 46-year-old Cheryl Korbel, was reportedly shot in the wrist whilst trying to close the door of the family home to block the attacker gaining access to the house. However her nine-year-old daughter was stood behind her mother and was fatally struck by the same bullet. The man who had entered the Korbel home was said to have suffered gunshot wounds to the upper part of his body. Olivia was discovered with a gunshot wound to her chest and was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where she sadly died. Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy described the incident as "shocking" and something which "crosses every single boundary." Meanwhile, local newspaper the Liverpool Echo shared similar statements, saying that the tragic event has "shocked the city." The same outlet also issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward with any information they may have. "Imagine the agony of Olivia's family as they are told she did not make it - murdered in her own home," it told its readers. "Imagine knowing something about this unspeakable crime but keeping quiet because you would rather surrender our city to the thugs than to get justice for Olivia.
