Snoop Dogg finally explains what he meant by saying he’d ‘give up smoke’

‘I’m done with it’

Snoop Dogg has explained what he meant when he said he was “giving up smoke.”

Snoop, real name is Calvin Broadus, is known for his long rap career which starting in the early 90s when he burst onto the scene with the release of his now-iconic debut album Doggystyle, and lasting all the way through into the present day.

But to a younger generation, the legendary rapper is perhaps best known for his prolific blunt smoking.

This was why it was a shock to many when he announced last Thursday that he was “giving up smoke.”

Posting to X, Snoop wrote: “I’m giving up smoke. After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke.

“Please respect my privacy at this time.”

Well, as a lot of you may have guessed, all was not as it seemed with the announcement.

It turns out the whole thing was a PR stunt and part of an advert for smokeless fire pit company Solo Stove.

In the advert, he tells the camera: “I have an announcement. I’m giving up smoke. I know what you’re thinking, ‘Snoop? Smoke is kinda your whole thing?’

“But I’m done with it. I’m done with […] my clothes smelling all sticky icky. I’m going smokeless. Solo Stove fixed fire, they take out the smoke, clever.”

Reacting to the marketing ploy, one person said: “Bro had the worlds stoners questioning their life choices for this ad.”

Another commented: “I knew that wording was strange! ‘Smoke’ not ‘smoking’ lol! Nice!”

One unhappy user wrote: “Come on Unc… All this for an ad?”

And someone else said: “Of course it was all an ad”

Snoop has attempted sobriety from weed before, back in 2002, but he relapsed not long after.
