Teacher’s sex abuse sentence delayed after she gives birth

A teacher in the US has been served a sentence of just 60 days for years of sexual abuse against a 13-year-old student, which will now be delayed because she has given birth. Marka Bodine, 32, admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old boy for numerous years in both the classroom and her car. Despite the prosecution calling for a 40-year sentence, the teacher will only be behind bars for 60 days. The exact date of her jail time has not been revealed. According to the New York Post, Bodine met the unnamed student while she was teaching English at Tomball Intermediate School in Texas. The two had begun chatting on Fortnite before moving to text messages, where things became explicit shortly after he turned 13. Court documents also suggest that she moved into his apartment complex following her divorce. The years of abuse were made public after Bodine told her principal that a former student was harassing her. He was allegedly threatening to harm himself. She admitted to sending them and later admitted that she had sex with him. Now Bodine must register as a sex offender and will serve 60 days at an undisclosed point in the future. The student is not her baby's father.
