Helicopter pilot pulls off very cheeky flight pattern

Steve Hopkins

A ballsy stunt, but not all is as it seems

A helicopter pilot has made a bit of a dick of himself with a midair manoeuvre that has gone viral.

A somewhat phallic flight pattern in the the skies of Comino, in Malta, was traced by an Armed Forces of Malta’s (AFM) helicopter earlier this week.

A tweet from the fight tracking website, flightradar24.com, then exposed the antics to a much wider audience.

Flightrader24 tweeted, simply: “Meanwhile in Malta…”

Online sleuths traced the flight pattern to an AW139 – “the best-selling twin engine helicopter in its class”.

While many commenters online assumed the ballsy stunt was deliberate boyish humour, the AFM told the Times of Malta the flight pattern, shared by flightradar24, had been “printed out of context”.

A spokesperson told the publisher: “The flight tracking shown was segmented as the helicopter was flying low altitude and did not show the completed flight path.”

Flightradar24 shared a similar sight in November – after a couple US Air Force pilots got creative with their flight path.

A rather girthy looking penis and some wonky balls was drawn in the sky by a Russian naval facility located in Syrian waters.

The aerial artwork was spotted near Tartus – the Kremlin’s naval facility in the Mediterranean.

One flight expert told Times Now: “They were on a refuelling mission that usually is just a long oval, repeated over and over…. so they added the ‘balls’. No extra taxpayer money spent.”

In 2019, a runner made headlines across the world with her Strava ‘dick runs’.

Dick run Clare, as she is now known, has logged dozens of runs, all in the shape of, you guessed it, a penis.
