Actor and TV presenter Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from her regular spot on The View for two weeks after her comments regarding the Holocaust.
Goldberg, 66, was speaking on the daytime talk show alongside her fellow hosts when the topic of discussion began to veer towards the recent Holocaust Memorial Day. She then went on to argue that "the Holocaust isn't about race ... it's about man's inhumanity to man".

The specific context of the discussion arose from a Tennessee school removing the graphic novel Maus from their syllabus, Goldberg went on to say that the historic human tragedy involved "two groups of white people" and that texts like Maus could simply worry children and families from a purely humanistic standpoint.
Following immediate resistance from her colleagues on the panel and outrage on social media, Goldberg took to Twitter to apologise, insisting that while she said it was not about race and instead about inhumanity, she "should have said it is about both", citing a quote from Johnathan Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

The Sister Act star has now been suspended for a fortnight following a statement from ABC - the network which airs an episode of The View every single weekday.
Network president Kim Godwin said the following: "Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments.
"While Whoopi has apologised, I've asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organisation stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities", adding that "these decisions are never easy, but necessary".
The show itself has 22 permanent co-hosts so there will be no problem finding someone to temporarily fill her regular spot - one which she has enjoyed since 2007.
