Owen called him out in a tweet which was later deleted
Michael Owen has called out a football coach over a ‘vile tweet’ sent about his daughter Gemma, who is currently on the hit-ITV2 show, Love Island.
The 19-year-old has been in the villa for almost a week and has attracted large-scale attention since her entry, with Michael continuously asked for his thoughts.
Michael has previously admitted that he didn’t want to see his daughter kissing on the show but that was met with a crude comment from former Glasgow City FC employee, Paul Proud, who said in a now-deleted tweet: “Can’t wait to see her getting smashed,” followed by a series of laughing emojis.
The former Liverpool and England forward then replied, calling out Proud for his tweet. He said: “What a fine example to set from a man in your responsible position.”

Proud’s Twitter account had initially said that he was an Under-18 coach at Glasgow City FC, but in an interview with the Scottish Sun, said he was no longer employed by the club.
“My account has been deleted and I have resigned from my position with immediate effect so there is no story to run,” he said.
The former coach then added that the joke had been “in jest”, “taken out of context” and that the “correct action has been taken by myself to remove myself from the club.”
Michael has also spoke of how hard it has been for wife, Louise, to read the criticism that their daughter has received since featuring on the show.
Gemma has been slammed for being ‘rude and too young’ but her father has insisted that she is mature for her age and is a ‘loyal person.’
