A midfield duo of John McGinn and Pogba does sound exciting

Aston Villa and Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Paul Pogba, with the Manchester United midfielder’s contract up at the end of the season.

Pogba is expected to leave United after expressing his disappointment at the lack of trophies won in his second spell at the club and on the back of another poor campaign which has seen the Red Devils knocked out of all cup competitions.

Pogba on disappointment at lack of trophies

“The last five seasons have not satisfied me – really not at all,” Pogba revealed during an interview with a French tabloid.

“This year it is dead, we won’t win anything. Whether it is with Manchester United or at another club, I want to win trophies.”

Furthermore, with a place in the top four also under threat, the 29-year-old is now looking to move onto pastures new in a bid to achieve his aim of silverware.

Who is interested?

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are two clubs who have been linked with a move for the Frenchman as well as a return to Italy with former club Juventus.

However two new sides have entered the fray in the shape of Villa and Newcastle, reports the Mail.

Both clubs have heavy financial backing and are looking to add to their squads to help them challenge the top order of the Premier League.

With no fee to stump up, both can lump a decent amount of cash on his wage packet which might – but probably won’t – be enough to convince him to prolong his stay in the Premier League.

Either getting a deal done would represent quite a coup, but it remains likelier Pogba will decide to leave England. Time will tell.
