This was lovely to see

Gareth Bale was given the send-off he deserves from Real Madrid fans during the club’s trophy parade as he prepares to bid farewell in the summer.

Bale has had a difficult few years at Los Blancos to say the least and has endured a frosty relationship with the supporters, who have often questioned his commitment to the club, even booing him on some occasions.

The last few years has seen the Welshman fall away from the first-team fold and has been limited to bit-part appearances and was even shipped out on loan to Tottenham Hotspur last season.

The Welshman was given a positive reception as he walked out at the Bernabeu

But after a long-drawn love and hate relationship between the two parties it seems as if both will end on a positive note after the Madridstas sang his name.

It would have been understandable if Bale was feeling a little wary of walking out at the Bernabeu after celebrating their La Liga and Champions League achievements, but was met with a large cheer as his name was announced.

Other video footage also showed Bale’s name being chanted by Madrid fans as he walked around the pitch with his children, waving back in response to the heartfelt gesture and signing autographs.

Bale has an impressive record during his time at Real Madrid

For all of the animosity between the fans and Bale, it’s easy to forget his rather incredible record since he joined from Tottenham in 2013.

In his nine years at the club, the 32-year-old has won five Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles, three UEFA Super Cups and three Club World Cups and a Copa del Rey in his first season where he scored a famous winning goal.

The Wales captain also boasts an impressive 106 goals in 258 appearances at the club.
